Atlas Shrugged Characters

I am in the process of reading Atlas Shrugged and love it. I was just pondering the differences of the main characters I have encountered in this novel with those in The Fountainhead. My main focus of thought is with Dominique and Dagny. I believe Dagny is more engrained in her beliefs than Dominique and more intellectual and Dominique seems to have different views of sex, marriage, and relationships on the whole. What do you think?

    Welcome to the group Katelynn.

I'm not the best person to comment on the differences between Dagny and Dominique, but your comments seem on track. Dagny's character drives Atlas Shrugged's plot, so she needs to come to the story with a good deal of developed views and beliefs.

By the way, a good resource for people interested in Ayn Rand's novels is The Atlas Society. atlassociety.org/ They have a number of articles and some discussion forums.

In The Fountainhead, Roark is the moral hero, and Dominique is the woman he loves. In Atlas Shrugged, Dagny is the moral hero, and Galt is the man she worships.

wait wait.. are we just loving dagny because she's holding the flag?

To me Dominique embodies individuality as much as anyone.. is it that her stance still challenges our 'mainstream' conceptions of acceptable that we're alluding to Dagny being a more evolved female?
